So, here i am on the first post of kenokenobi! Let's just rewind back in a year, wait, no. I'll just tell ya sometin' that been excite me for this few months (maybe around three months on early 2013). So, i was just reading through Iron Man 3 articles, and found out about Marvel Phase Two, which will circulate a story for The Avengers 2, there's Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and stuff, but then i saw that the next year movie is something that i never know before, which is; "Guardians of The Galaxy" (GOTG). Who are they? Why Marvel made a movie about a super hero group that no-one has ever known before?
So i searched for the digital comic cbr/cbz files about this particular group, and found it. Then i did the reading, and i gotta say, it is a very interesting piece of work. So i'm just gonna tell you the story, more like the synopsis of the entire 6 chapters of story-arc. It all started with an annihilation by one of Fantastic Four enemy in the negative zone, Annihilus. He want to kill every world and living things in the positive matter universe, because the positive matter universe is expanding and the negative zone are getting small and smaller. Annihilus blaming everyone in positive matter universe and unite every negative zone population to join him, to annihilate every living things in positive matter universe. As one by one, they destroy the world in positive universe, the superheroes and gods are fighting back. Then after Annihilus is dead, there's also a phalanx invasion which turn out to be led by Ultron, and the damage of the invasion is affecting the entire universe.
The invasion are affecting the whole universe, after this two consecutive wars ended. There's a man who became an tactical advisor in both wars, Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, who thinks there should be a group who can handle this universal threat. A group who can also prevent a threat with a scale that big, and therefore start recruiting those who also fight in the last two universal war. There wasn't any name for the group after a few mission. Until they found a frozen man with Captain America shield. Which turn out to be one of the original GOTG member drifting apart from the future. The GOTG i read are actually GOTG Volume 2, the Volume 1 are in alternative future (not earth 616). And this guy who have Capt. America shield are someone from GOTG Volume 1, he came to the timeline where the GOTG era has just begun (our era). Peter Quill just made the group, and don't even have the name of the group yet. This guy (Major Victory) suggested the name to them to be GOTG, after fighting over which names should be, they finally agree with Guardians of The Galaxy.
Annihilation Wars

But let's get back to the Annihilation Wars, the first war. It's started on Thanos story, well who's he? To tell who he is, is going to be a long story, but i tell you simply. Thanos is the purple guy who smile in the end of The Avengers movie. And remember the cosmic cube?, the blue cube in the Captain America Movie? Yeah that's also included in the GOTG Volume 2 as a very important item to use for Thanos or against him. So the next phase of Marvel's movie is probably circulating around Thanos. Thanos is also the main Antagonist in this GOTG Volume 2, since the beginning until the very end (even after the Volume 2, which tie GOTG with The Avengers), it was all about Thanos.
Annihilation chapter is introducing, some old Marvel comic's space character. Which i don't really read at all, unlike street level superhero like Spidey, Daredevil, X-Men, some of these space character, is more much of a universal level superhero type. Introducing Drax The Destroyer, Nova Corps. Nova Corps is like a Marvel version of DC's Green Lantern. In this chapter, the Nova Corps are annihilated by the Annihilation wave, leaving Richard Rider (Originated from earth) as the only Nova who survived. Later he upgraded by the world-mind (Nova Corps Super Computer) to be a Nova Prime, he got all the power of all nova corps, so he can later re-build the nova corps again (and Nova Prime costume is kinda cool).
There's also Silver Surfer, Ronan, Super-skrull, Quasar, introducing Gamora on Ronan Story, It's pretty much a team already to fight back an Annihilation by Annihilus. At this chapter, there's Civil War chapter happen's on earth. Which if the Annihilation wave reached earth, it will be a massacre, since the earth super heroes are fighting each other, and... well that's another story on earth.
Phalanx Invasion

The second story-arc is The Phalanx Invasion. Phalanx is a cybernetic species, it's actually the abomination version of The Technarchy, as Phyla-Vell describe them as "a highly-contagious , hyper-aggressive, techno-organic species of unknown deprivation...). Before the main story, the prologue and fill-in are introducing the characters. The prologue tells how the phalanx, firstly invading the security drones off the kree empire, which just bought from a space knight, a fellow. The phalanx is also invading the space knight, and it turns out that the phalanx can also invading an organic form, an turns them into phalanx.
First character they introduced is Phyla-Vell, which at this time has Quasar power, She also got Captain Marvel power in the past, and in GOTG later, she will got another power which named her Martyr. Quasar chapter also introducing Phyla's girlfriend, Moondragon, who also daughter of Drax.
Also introducing Star-Lord a.k.a. Peter Quill, as he recruited for a team to invade The Phalanx secretly. This Star-Lord chapter are also re introducing Star-Lord origin again, then you'll see Rocket Racoon, Groot, and pretty much the real origin of Guardians of The Galaxy teams are in this chapter. Then reintroducing an old character, Wraith. Then some chapter of Nova, which is my favorite chapter. I don't know it's always interest me more to read something about Nova and The Nova Corps story. Gamora also play parts in this chapter as a villain affected by Phalanx.
The main Phalanx chapter, introducing old space Marvel character, Adam Warlock. Who is the strongest character in GOTG, and Super-Skrull, Nova, Ronan, Drax, Gamora also join in the fight, its pretty much GOTG already here actually. You'll see how useful is Star-Lord leadership in this chapter. The combination teamwork of Groot and Rocket Racoon. (SPOILER ALERT) Also show who's behind this Phalanx Invasion which is, Ultron. Then you'll see the fight of this team to finally defeat Ultron.
War of Kings / Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2

This is the era of the recently assembled GOTG, they have a homebase in the knowhere (Which have a universal range teleporter, very kool), and the group are working on to find a universal threat problem and destroy it. On their first case, which they didn't decided on what name should the group have yet, they met this floating ice, and on part of it there's the blue guy on ice with Captain America shield. Well it's like the beginning of The Avengers isn't it? The history rhymes my friend.
The blue guy are turned out to be the original member of the GOTG on the future (The first Volume of GOTG are in the year 3000 something, in an alternate future of marvel universe). The blue guy is Vance Astro a.k.a. Major Victory, he suggesting the name of the group as Guardians of The Galaxy, and after several case or mission, the group is finally decided to named it GOTG anyway. Then the GOTG have several universal threat cases / mission / enemies like Universal Church of Truth and The Skrull Invasion on their base knowhere, and well obviously, the War of Kings.
There are several faction who are included in this war, mainly it's a war between Shi'Ar Empire and The Inhumans. The faction that are included are, Starjammers (or space X-Men or something, i don't really read much X-Men yet) The leader is Havok, and then There's Shi'Ar Empire and the leader is Vulcan, another X-Men tie-ins. The Inhumans are the modified version of the Kree races that been disbanded to the moon of earth. Darkhawk also play part in the story, including Ascension storyline, which kind of explain the origin of Darkhawk, and of course this storyline isn't cool enough without Nova.
GOTG are here to stop both faction to go to war, because the original GOTG in the future has sent them to the future and explain to them the war will causing and energy rift called the fault. Here you'll see the most epic battle of uncertainty, on which one is gonna win since there's not really any line between good and evil here, well except for our hero GOTG who know the most reasonably reasonable reason on why this has to stop. Well finally the war have it's king to battle one on one on an epic battle, and finally causing the fault to open and who knows what's on the other side of the fault?
Realm of Kings / Thanos Imperative

Realm of Kings are pretty much a fill in for Thanos Imperative and also the aftermath of what happen in War of Kings. The fault which caused by the war is kind of expanding. The fault is like an inter-dimensional passage, a crack in the universe, Quasar sent there alone to check what's on the other side, which he found out that the other side is a cancer-verse, a universe where there's no death, life has taken over in that universe.
Quasar met the abomination version of the Avengers, namely Revengers. Their power is basically using something like magic. You'll see all the Marvel superheroes in the version of the cancer verse, which looks medieval and scarily cool. The battle here, in the fault, well simply put is the most epic battle i ever saw in the marvel universe.
Those things which have a herald (Something like Galactus), are also fighting the battle. If you know the size comparison between Galactus and Silver Surfer, yes big difference, but the cancer-verse have something bigger that make Galactus as Silver Surfer compared to the thing. Where's Thanos in this story? He is the key to defeat the cancer-verse, because Thanos is in love with Death, and well what is needed to destroy a universe of cancer, where life is winning over death?

Annihilators / Annihilators Earthfall
(SPOILER) So Guardians of The Galaxy is disbanded, because of the death or disappearance of the core member. There's some strong people left to defense the Galaxy. So they made the temporary group named Annihilators. There's also Groot/Rocket Racoon story. Pretty much a post Thanos Imperative story, and the Groot/Rocket Racoon story before the next GOTG is out.
Avengers Assemble #5 - #8 / Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3

So i guess the cancer-verse are death with Star-Lord, Nova, and Thanos. In this Avengers Assemble story, The Avengers have Thanos as their enemy, and well suddenly we get the scene where the GOTG the team are in their usual mission. Then they go to earth and helping The Avengers, and at some point, Thanos are actually banished them to the cancer-verse. Well it's still alive!? Since Star-Lord and Thanos are still alive so i assume Nova did still alive, but how did the three escape from it? I hope the writer will explain it later in the GOTG Vol. 3. About the cancer-verse, i guess since it's a universe where death is gone, so the cancer will start growing again, slowly (it's only a fan-made theory i found on the internet forum somewhere though).
The Volume 3 of GOTG are retelling Star-Lord origin when his daddy are actually have one night stand with the mummy (no, not exactly one night though haha), and how the Badoon killed his mom, and how Peter Quill found his daddy space gun. Also retelling how the GOTG team are assembled again after the previous events in Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite Comic, which i think is for mobile apps comic.
Oh, and yes, Iron Man, since he have interest on green ladies and the unknown space, and Peter Quill think he should join. And there's some Universal Space people gathering, and said that earth is off-limits from protection, earth is something of the most important thing and stuff, so now it became the best target for villain to attack since it's off-limit from protection. This is where the the GOTG fill in with Iron Man protecting London from the Badoon, and ended up arrested. Well it's still on-going now, we'll see how the story turns out. I'll write another post about the most interesting news of GOTG movie and the updates about it so far, like the cast, and the possible storyline. Yeao!
